A note about this tool. The Watercolor Painting Playground is a creative tool, not art therapy. Art therapy is practiced by credentialed art therapists within a therapeutic relationship, and this playground doesn’t replace that. It isn’t a diagnosis, an assessment or treatment of any kind.

What it offers is a way to try concretization: giving a feeling a visible form that we can look at, change and explore. Researchers have identified it as one of several processes in arts-based therapies, but scientists haven’t established that any of them leads to better mental health outcomes, and this tool makes no such claim. Your painting isn’t interpreted or judged; there is no right or wrong picture.

If you’re struggling, please reach out to a licensed mental health professional, and see our Healthcare Disclaimer. To learn more about art therapy, read Art Therapy: Visualizing Our Thoughts.
